In a tweet sent late on Sunday night, the Italian international confirmed his preference for a move to Manchester United after Real Madrid decided to sell the Ballon d’Or winner to the English champions.
“I would love to stay at the club for a long time and it is a great team.
Ronaldo is a very good player, a world class one and I know that he is a fantastic person,” Gallinaro said in a tweet.
“It is a difficult time for everyone.
We have all been in the middle of negotiations and now it is time to finalise a deal.”
Galianari was named as the winner of the Ballons d’ Or for the second consecutive year on Sunday with Real Madrid having announced that the Brazilian will leave the club to join Manchester United for an undisclosed fee in 2018.
However, the 27-year-old is not planning to join United as he is still hopeful that his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu can be assured, even if the Portuguese giants decide to sell him to Real Madrid.
“I don’t want to leave Real Madrid and I want to stay here.
I am not looking for any new deal or any new challenges.
I want a long and fruitful career.
I just want to play here for as long as I can,” he said.
“We are working hard and there is no end in sight for this season.
At this moment, I want the team to win the league and win the Champions League.
This is our only objective.”
